As battery technology advances and becomes more mainstream, automakers are taking bold steps to make electric vehicles (EVs) more accessible to the masses. This involves reducing prices to bridge the gap between EVs and traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models, ultimately aiming to accelerate EV adoption.
Tata Tiago EV
Tata Motors has responded to the evolving landscape by slashing prices for its Tiago EV lineup. Notably, the base-spec XE variant, featuring a 19.2 kWh battery pack, received a substantial price cut of Rs 70,000, signaling a commitment to making EVs more affordable.
Tata Nexon EV
Joining the price reduction trend is the Tata Nexon EV, which witnessed price adjustments across its range. Medium Range variants experienced a commendable reduction of up to Rs 35,000, while the Long Range variants enjoyed even greater savings of up to Rs 1.2 lakh, positioning the Nexon EV as an enticing option in the EV market.
MG Comet EV
MG Motors India has also entered the fray by lowering prices for its EV lineup, notably the Comet EV. With a substantial price cut of Rs 1.4 lakh, the Comet EV now offers compelling value, with starting prices as low as Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting MG’s dedication to making EVs more accessible to consumers.
MG ZS EV
Further underlining the industry’s commitment to affordability, the MG ZS EV underwent a significant price reduction of up to Rs 3.9 lakh. Although the specific rationale behind this move remains undisclosed, it is evident that MG is keen on encouraging widespread EV adoption among Indian car buyers. The revised price range for the ZS EV now falls between Rs 18.98 lakh and Rs 25.08 lakh (ex-showroom), presenting a compelling proposition in the EV segment.
